Alcohol

Excess alcohol is bad for the health, when drunk in moderation, some alcoholic beverages such as red wine have beneficial health properties but generally speaking alcohol (especially in excess) is bad for the health.

Alcohol is high in calories and low in nutrients which can mean that heavy drinkers can lack vital nutrients and suffer from malnutrition. Excessive drinking and binge drinking can put a lot of stress on the liver, the heart and stomach causing conditions such as cirrhosis of the liver, heart disease, stomach ulcers, gout, cancer of the liver, mouth, throat, oesophagus, stomach, colon and breast, pancreatitis and migraines. Heavy drinking during pregnancy can cause birth defects and it is best for pregnant women to avoid alcohol.

  • Can cause personality change
  • Increases the risk of cancer
  • Increases the risk of gout
  • Increases the risk of cirrhosis of the liver

  • Increases the risk of Migraine
  • Increases the risk of inflammation of the stomach

Do not drink whilst on medication
Do not drink during pregnancy
