Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome is commonly referred to as AIDS.

It is a health condition in which your immune system becomes very weak and finds it hard to protect your body from infections.

Not all, but most scientists tend to agree that the human immunodeficiency virus, which is commonly referred to as HIV, causes AIDS.

People who are infected by the human immunodeficiency virus are referred to as “HIV positive”.

At present, there is no cure for AIDS.

But, modern science has produced drugs which can slow down the progression of this disease.

Plus, dietary changes and nutritional supplements can also be helpful.

Note: Due to the complexity of this disorder, please consult your doctor before embarking on any supplemental regime or dietary change.

The symptoms of HIV can be mistaken for other diseases.

The following HIV symptoms can start to show within a few weeks of infection:

  • Fever
  • Flu-Like Symptoms
  • Joint Pain
  • Rashes
  • Swelling Of The Lymph Nodes
  • Weakness

These symptoms typically disappear, which results in many HIV positive people being not aware that they have the disorder.

The symptoms of AIDS are related to immune-deficiency and can be varied, affecting many different parts of your body.

AIDS and HIV sufferers tend to suffer from diarrhea and often lose weight. Keeping to a diet with whole foods and reframing from consuming processed and refined foods will help to counteract nutritional deficiencies.

Research has shown that people who are HIV positive can reduce the instance of diarrhea and increase weight by keeping to a gluten free diet.

Exercise is beneficial for AIDS/HIV sufferers, participating in any type of exercise three to four times a week will help to slow down the progression of AIDS.

Resistance training three times per week can also help to increase lean body mass.

Taking certain supplements can help with the symptoms associated with AIDS and HIV.

Trials have shown that the onset of AIDS can be slowed in HIV-positive men, simply by taking a multivitamin and mineral supplement.

The antioxidant selenium is another good supplement to take. Trials have shown that selenium can reduce infections, increase appetite and improve heart function.

Trials have shown that the amino acid N-acetyl cysteine (NAC), can help to slow the decline in immune function which is associated with HIV.

There are also herbs which can help with AIDS and HIV, one particular good herb is boxwood. Double-blind trials have shown that boxwood can delay the progression of HIV infection.

The following supplements may help you to manage your symptoms.

  • Arginine (For Preserving Lean Body Mass)
  • Boxwood
  • DHEA (For Depression And Fatigue)
  • Glutamine (For Preserving Lean Body Mass)
  • Hydroxymethylbutyrate (For Preserving Lean Body Mass)
