Sugar And Mineral Imbalance
20 November 2007 – 10:56 am
I received an email from Seb asking about sugar and its effect on minerals within your body.
Here’s what Seb asked:
I hope you don”t mind me asking you this question (your website invites us to) but I need to find out about how sugar in the diet affects availability of minerals in the body.
I don”t know if this is something you”ve already written on and is available on your website somewhere (and apologies if that’’s the case) otherwise I”d be really grateful for any information you can provide me with.
Seb, there is some research by Dr Melvin Page about the effect which sugar has on the minerals within your body which you may find interesting.
You may want to google his name for further info… it mainly concerns the balance of calcium and phosphorous within the body.
In his research he discovered that sugar can throw out the calcium/phosphorous balance in the body within twenty minutes of eating it.
This imbalance typically remains between 6 to 12 hours later.
So, what can a calcium/phosphorous imbalance do to your body?
Well, a calcium/phosphorous imbalance can slowly cause many health conditions such as:
- Osteoporosis
- Tooth Decay
- Gum Disease
- Kidney Stones
- Gallbladder Stones
- Harding Of The Arteries
- Bursitis
Thanks for the question Seb… I hope this answers it for you.
