                                          Cardiovascular Conditions Addressed

Dr. Neil Sanghvi addresses a wide range of Cardiovascular health concerns, including:

                                          • Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA): A weakened area in the large blood vessel (aorta) in your abdomen forms an abdominal aortic aneurysm, posing a risk of rupture.
                                          • Sinus Tachycardia: Sinus tachycardia means your heart rate is elevated above the normal range, but the rhythm is otherwise regular and originates from the sinoatrial node.
                                          • Constrictive Pericarditis: Constrictive pericarditis is characterized by a stiff pericardium, which limits the heart's ability to fill with blood properly, leading to reduced blood flow.
                                          • Noninfective Endocarditis: Unlike infective endocarditis, noninfective endocarditis is a type of inflammation in the heart's inner lining and valves that isn't caused by germs.
                                          • Atypical Atrial Flutter: Atypical atrial flutter is a less common form of atrial flutter, characterized by an irregular and rapid heartbeat in the heart's atria.
                                          • Biventricular Heart Failure: In biventricular heart failure, both lower chambers of your heart are weakened and unable to pump blood efficiently throughout your body.
                                          • Hypertensive Heart with Failure: High blood pressure is causing your heart to not function properly, resulting in heart failure.
                                          • Patent Ductus Arteriosus: A patent ductus arteriosus is a condition where a fetal blood vessel remains open after birth, causing extra blood flow to the lungs.
                                          • Prinzmetal Angina: Prinzmetal angina is a type of chest pain caused by temporary spasms in the coronary arteries, reducing blood flow to the heart.
                                          • Vitamin D Deficiency: Vitamin D deficiency can cause weakness, bone pain, and other health problems.
                                          • Ventricular Septal Defect: In a ventricular septal defect, blood leaks from one pumping chamber of the heart to the other, potentially causing strain.
                                          • Acute Coronary Syndrome: Acute coronary syndrome encompasses conditions like unstable angina and heart attacks, both stemming from decreased blood supply to the heart.

                                          • Insertion of Left Ventricular Lead for Pacemaker or Cardioverter and Defibrillator: The doctor inserted a small wire into my heart's left ventricle to connect it to my pacemaker or defibrillator.

                                          Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to some common questions about care with Dr. Neil Sanghvi:

                                          What is a Cardiologist?
A cardiologist is a medical doctor specializing in the heart and blood vessels. They diagnose, treat, and prevent diseases like coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, and high blood pressure.
What should I expect during my first visit with Dr. Neil Sanghvi?
Your first visit with Dr. Sanghvi will involve a detailed discussion of your symptoms, risk factors, and family history. A physical exam and electrocardiogram (EKG) are typically performed. Further testing, such as an echocardiogram or stress test, may be recommended depending on your individual needs.
Does Dr. Neil Sanghvi accept my insurance?
Dr. Sanghvi's office accepts many insurance plans, but acceptance can vary depending on the specific plan. Please call our office directly with your insurance information to confirm coverage for consultations and procedures.
What is a cardiac stress test?
A cardiac stress test evaluates how your heart functions during physical activity. It involves walking on a treadmill or riding a stationary bike while connected to an EKG machine. This helps diagnose coronary artery disease and assess heart function under stress.
What is a cardiac catheterization or angiogram?
Cardiac catheterization, or angiogram, is a minimally invasive procedure used to diagnose and treat heart conditions. A thin tube (catheter) is guided to the heart to measure pressures and visualize the coronary arteries with dye, allowing for identification of blockages.
Why do I need to wear a Holter or event monitor?
A Holter or event monitor is a portable EKG device worn for one or more days to record your heart's rhythm during normal daily activities. This helps us detect any arrhythmias that might not show up during a standard office EKG.
What is the treatment for high cholesterol?
Treatment for high cholesterol often starts with dietary changes and increased physical activity. If lifestyle modifications are insufficient, Dr. Sanghvi may prescribe medications like statins to effectively lower cholesterol levels and reduce cardiovascular risk.
What does a heart failure diagnosis mean?
A heart failure diagnosis means your heart isn't pumping blood as efficiently as it should. However, this is manageable with a combination of lifestyle modifications and medications to improve heart function, reduce symptoms, and enhance your overall well-being.
